Riddles In The Dark

How?

When?

Why?

Questions that are not asked often enough.

How did we get to where we are today?

When did people stop paying attention to what was going on around them?

Why did we allow ourselves to become so distracted from reality?

How much irreparable damage has been done?

When did the mass media gain control of the greater common consciousness?

Why did we allow this to happen?

How can we fix this?

When is it too late?

Why?

You're right there. And of course I'm guilty too.

Even if we don't take peak oil seriously, even if we treat the Presidential elections as entertainment, even if we concentrate on ourselves and forget there's a crazy world out there with people dying from preventable diseases, we still have to question it all, otherwise we're already dead.

It is amazing how much of what happens in this world goes by unnoticed.
We are all guilty.

If we would only question one thing a day we'd be so much better off. Not to question is unthinkable yet we are becoming a world of non thinkers.

I don't know how it happened and I don't know how to reverse the trend.

Here's something that you might find of interest. It's less optimistic than it was supposed to be, I think, but nonetheless fascinating.

I particularly like the idea of his teacher telling him to go eradicate small pox. And after all, you may as well embrace hope because otherwise its hopeless and that's no way to live.
